Windows integration
Use the notification area, media controls, startup setting, and Windows file associations.

Close, restore, or exit the player
Closing the main window can keep Neirose and its playback session running in the Windows notification area. Expand the notification-area overflow if the Neirose icon is hidden.
- Use the Neirose notification-area icon to restore or hide its window.
- Open the icon’s menu for playback controls, the media flyout, desktop settings, and the exit action.
- Choose the exit action when you want to stop Neirose completely.
Launching Neirose again restores the existing instance rather than starting a second playback session.
Use Windows media controls
- Open Settings → Windows.
- Enable Windows media controls to publish Neirose’s playback session and respond to media keys.
This is enabled by default. Windows can show track metadata, artwork, playback position, and transport controls. Neirose does not replace the Windows volume or lock-key overlays, or control another app’s media session.
Start with Windows
- Open Settings → Windows.
- Enable Start with Windows to launch Neirose hidden in the notification area when you sign in. Turn it off to stop this behavior.
Start with Windows is off by default. Starting hidden does not mean that Neirose opens a second queue.
Open music files from Explorer
- In Windows, open Settings → Apps → Default apps → Neirose.
- Choose the audio file types you want Neirose to open. You can also use Open with → Choose another app on a file in Explorer.
- Open a supported file. Neirose brings its existing window forward and starts that file while retaining the current queue.
Neirose registers the formats listed in Supported music formats. It does not take over a file type without your choice.
Portrait and Landscape
Use the title-bar mode button to switch between Portrait, Landscape, and Maximized Landscape. See Appearance and window modes for layout and placement behavior.
Taskbar widget
The optional widget adds transport controls to a supported Windows taskbar. It requires its Store add-on and a supported layout. Follow Taskbar widget for setup, placement, and status checks.
Discord listening activity
Discord sharing is a separate opt-in in Settings → Discord. See Discord to enable it and understand what is shared.
For Neirose 1.5.0.0. Check your installed version.
