Getting started
Add your music, choose something to play, and find your way around Neirose.

Install and open Neirose
Neirose is a local music player for Windows 11. You need audio files on your computer or an accessible drive; Neirose does not provide a streaming catalog.
- Open the Neirose website. Choose Microsoft Store, or Download installer if you want to install without Store. The standalone installer includes .NET and requires Windows 11 x64; it is unsigned, so Windows may warn or block installation.
- Open Neirose from the Windows Start menu. If it is already running in the notification area, launching it again restores the existing window.
Add a music folder to your library
- Choose Library in the bottom navigation in Portrait, or the left navigation rail in Landscape.
- For an empty library, choose Index folder. To manage your music folders, open the Folders tab and use its add-folder control.
- Select the folder containing your music and let indexing finish. Neirose reads supported files in place; it does not copy them.
- After changing files outside Neirose, use Refresh library to update the catalog.
The library tabs are Playlists, Artists, Albums, and Folders. Library explains browsing, tags, and supported formats.
Play your first track
- Open Library → Albums, choose an album, and choose Play all to start it. This replaces the current queue.
- Open Now to see the current track. Use play/pause, previous, next, and the seek bar to control playback.
- Open Queue to see the playback list. Use an album or playlist’s Add all action when you want to append tracks instead of starting a new queue.
For a few individual files, use Ctrl+O or Queue → Add files, select the files, then choose a track or press play. Adding files alone does not request immediate playback.
If a PCM track is not audible, open Settings → Audio output, select a playback device, and choose Shared. DSF and DFF files need native DSD output through a compatible ASIO driver in Exclusive mode. Follow playback troubleshooting if needed.
A few useful shortcuts
Use Space to play or pause, Left and Right to seek five seconds, and Escape to dismiss the active sheet. Playback shortcuts do not override normal typing in text fields.
See the keyboard shortcut reference for focus rules, file shortcuts, and folder navigation.
For Neirose 1.5.0.0. Check your installed version.
