What’s new

Release notes for each Microsoft Store version of Neirose, newest first.

Neirose 1.5.0.0

October 9, 2026.

  • Native DSD playback. Mono and stereo DSF and uncompressed DFF files play through a compatible ASIO driver in Exclusive mode, from DSD64 through DSD512 when the DAC and driver support the file’s exact rate. Use the DAC’s physical volume; Neirose volume and ReplayGain are bypassed. DoP remains disabled. See Native DSD.
  • DSD in your library. DSF and DFF tracks join your library with embedded text and artwork and can open from Explorer. See Supported music formats.
  • More DSF files play. Files from writers that omit the audio chunk header from its declared size now play when their complete audio blocks and metadata boundary agree. Music files are never rewritten.
  • Clearer ASIO startup results. Completed driver calls are no longer reported as timeouts when background work delays their completion notification. Actual driver errors remain visible.
  • Standalone updates. Standalone installer builds check for updates automatically and wait for you to choose Download and Install update. They verify downloaded files before opening the unsigned installer. Microsoft Store installs keep their Store update path. See Standalone updates.

Neirose 1.4.2.0

October 2, 2026.

  • Portrait keeps its full height. Moving the compact window between monitors with different display scaling restores its fitted size when you move it back. See Window modes.
  • CUE albums refresh correctly. Editing a CUE sheet or replacing its disc image is picked up independently when you refresh the library.
  • Safer CUE split cleanup. A stopped or failed split preserves files that were already there or were created by another program. See CUE albums.
  • Startup preserves saved data. Closing the player or encountering a failure before startup finishes keeps the previous settings, playlists, and playback state.
  • Bounded playback memory. Audio parsing and gapless preparation keep memory use bounded for damaged or demanding files and rapid track changes.

Neirose 1.4.1.0

October 1, 2026.

  • Exclusive output with more DACs. Neirose can open devices that need a different integer PCM format or a 32-bit container, while keeping the source samples, sample rate, and channel layout. See Audio output.
  • Lower memory use. Neirose retains less window and artwork memory when hidden or when switching between Portrait and Landscape.
  • Covers return immediately. Cached library covers appear as soon as you restore the player from the notification area or a shortcut.

Neirose 1.4.0.0

Released September 30, 2026.

  • Find music by its track title. Search Playlists, Artists, Albums, or Folders for a song to find the collection that contains it. Folder results lead to the track as you open each level. See Library search.
  • Search across writing systems. Type Latin letters to find titles and collection names written in Japanese kana or kanji and other scripts. See Library search.
  • Sharper covers. Now Playing loads more detail for larger displays. Settings → Appearance → Prefer sharper folder covers can choose a higher-resolution folder image when one is available. See Now Playing artwork.
  • Paired lyrics highlight together. Lines sharing a timestamp, such as original and romanized lyrics, light up together in Lyrics and the taskbar widget.
  • Fixes. Search results stay steady while you type, Discord artwork recovers after temporary relay trouble, and reopened Settings sections appear immediately.

Neirose 1.3.0.0

Released September 28, 2026.

  • More music plays. Opus, Ogg Vorbis, WebM and MKA audio, and M4B audiobooks play, join your library, and open from Explorer. See Supported music formats.
  • CUE albums. A disc ripped to one file with a CUE sheet shows as its separate tracks and plays without gaps. Split into files turns it into one FLAC file per track, checked against the original before it is kept. See CUE albums.
  • Your own keyboard shortcuts. Change or clear any shortcut in Settings → Keyboard shortcuts. New defaults move between tracks, change the volume, and jump between pages. See Keyboard shortcuts.
  • Text size. Make text larger or smaller from 90% to 125% in Settings → Appearance, or press Ctrl+= and Ctrl+-. See Text size.
  • Album artwork on Discord. Your listening activity shows the track’s cover. See Discord.
  • Easier Settings in a wide window. A wide Landscape window lists the categories beside the open section, and the last section you opened comes back.
  • Smoother lyrics. Lines you have already heard dim softly so the current line stands out, and lyrics and long lists fade at the bottom instead of cutting off.
  • Fixes. A long queue of songs from outside your library no longer uses more and more memory, Landscape artwork fits after the window is resized on another page, and Apple Lossless tracks show their bit depth.

Neirose 1.2.1.0

Released September 27, 2026.

  • Lyrics in more languages. Simplified Chinese, Korean, Arabic, Thai, Hindi, and accented letters in languages such as Polish, Czech, Turkish, and Ukrainian now match the rest of Neirose. Arabic, Persian, and Urdu lyrics read from the right. See Lyrics.
  • Timed lyrics when you only had plain ones. With Online lyrics on, untimed lyrics embedded in a track give way to timed lyrics from LRCLIB when it has them. See Where lyrics come from.
  • Instrumental breaks. When lyrics mark a break, no line stays highlighted until singing starts again.
  • Older lyrics files. .lrc files saved in older encodings such as Shift-JIS, GBK, Big5, or Windows-1251 read correctly, and files with only a timed title line show all their lyrics.
  • Lyrics in the taskbar widget. Long lines show in full across up to three lines, and untimed lyrics scroll inside the card. See the mini-player.
  • Portrait fits smaller screens. On a laptop at high display scaling, Portrait scales down as a whole to fit. See window modes.
  • View what’s new in About & Updates opens these release notes.

Neirose 1.2.0.0

Released September 26, 2026.

  • Bring your playlists over. Neirose offers to import the playlists you already have in foobar2000 or your Music\Playlists folder. It only reads the other player’s files. See Playlists.
  • Add-ons unlock reliably. Microsoft Store purchases and promo codes are recognized, including while Neirose is open. A locked feature shows a clear notice with Unlock and Check again. See promo codes and restoring purchases.
  • License keys. Add-ons bought on neirose.app/buy unlock with a license key, entered in Settings. See Unlock with a license key.
  • Quieter updates. Closing Neirose for an update no longer reports that it could not start.
  • Small fixes. An empty Playlists page shows Make your first playlist again, and the taskbar widget’s options dim with it while it is off.

Neirose 1.1.0.0

Released September 24, 2026.

  • Import playlists. Bring M3U and M3U8 playlists from other players with import your playlist in the New playlist sheet, or drop the files on Neirose. See Playlists.
  • Drop music onto a playlist. Drag files or folders over an open playlist, or a playlist card or row, to add them to it. See Playlists.
  • Faster and lighter. Switching windows is instant, and Neirose uses noticeably less CPU and memory while it plays in the background.
  • Finer volume. Scrolling over the volume control now moves in 2% steps.
  • Better lyrics and playback. Word-timed lyrics keep the highlight on the sung word, and playback, seeking, and gapless transitions are more reliable.
  • Safer saved data. Queue, playlist, library, and settings files that cannot be read are kept instead of overwritten.
  • The right icon. Start, the taskbar, and search show the full Neirose rose.
  • Discord artwork. Neirose no longer looks up artwork on YouTube Music; album art appears only through a configured Neirose artwork relay.

Neirose 1.0.9.0

Released September 18, 2026.

  • Taskbar widget mini-player. Click the widget for synchronized lyrics, the queue, seeking, and volume without opening the main window. See Taskbar widget.
  • Smoother track changes. Albums and playlists start from the library index, and switching tracks is primed behind the current audio.
  • Landscape fits the screen. Maximized Landscape stays above the taskbar after switching from Portrait.
  • Discord artwork recovers after a temporary failure without a manual seek.

Neirose 1.0.8.0

Released September 16, 2026. The first Microsoft Store release.

  • Microsoft Store updates. Neirose installs from and updates through Microsoft Store. Check for updates in Settings → About & Updates. See Updates and add-ons.
  • Open with Neirose. Set Neirose as the app for FLAC, WAV, MP3, M4A, AAC, WMA, AIFF, and AIF files, and open music straight from Explorer.
  • More reliable playback when starting, seeking, and changing output devices.
