Appearance and window modes
Choose Ink or Porcelain and move between the compact player and a wider workspace.
On this page
Choose an appearance
- Open Settings → Appearance.
- Choose Ink for a dark appearance or Porcelain for a light appearance.
The appearance applies across the player and is remembered. The theme switch on this website changes the website only.
Text size
- Open Settings → Appearance.
- Drag the Text size slider, or click along it, to choose from 90% to 125% in 5% steps. 100%, marked on the slider, is the original size.
Text in the Neirose windows changes as you move the slider; icons, spacing, and window sizes stay the same. Ctrl+= and Ctrl+- change it one step from anywhere in Neirose, and you can change those keys in Keyboard shortcuts. The media flyout, Up Next, and taskbar widget keep their original text size so they fit the taskbar.
Now Playing artwork
Now Playing loads cover detail suited to its displayed size, including larger Landscape windows and high-DPI screens.
- Open Settings → Appearance and find Now Playing artwork.
- Leave Prefer sharper folder covers on to use a higher-resolution image beside a track when one is available. Turn it off to keep the embedded cover.
Change the window mode
Use the mode button in the title bar to cycle Portrait → Landscape → Maximized Landscape → Portrait.
| Mode | Layout |
|---|---|
| Portrait | A compact player with navigation along the bottom. Lyrics open in a focused screen. |
| Landscape | A resizable window with a navigation rail and a player/lyrics split in Now Playing. |
| Maximized Landscape | The Landscape layout fills the selected monitor’s available work area. |
Double-click the Landscape title bar to toggle maximization. Drag the edges of the restored Landscape window to resize it. Window sizes are subject to Windows display scaling.
On smaller or high-scaled screens, Portrait scales down as a whole so it fits the monitor’s work area, and it fits again when moved to another monitor. Moving it back to a monitor with lower display scaling restores its fitted size, including the full height. Neirose remembers the mode and restored Landscape size and position. Returning to Portrait recenters the compact window on its monitor. When switching between Portrait and Landscape, it keeps the destination window on the monitor that was active. If a maximized Landscape window moved to another monitor, restoring it recalculates its position for that monitor.
Portrait and Landscape show the same library state. Switching modes preserves the selected Library tab and loaded playlists while the shared catalog and playback session continue running.
For Neirose 1.5.0.0. Check your installed version.
