Playlists
Create a set of tracks, arrange it, and choose whether to play it now or add it to your queue.
On this page
Create and edit a playlist
- Open Library → Playlists and choose New playlist. An empty playlist browser also offers Create playlist.
- Enter a name in the playlist editor and save it.
- Open a track’s action menu, choose Add to playlist, then choose your playlist. The picker also lets you start a new playlist.
- Open the playlist in Library to see its tracks. Use Rename playlist to change its name or Delete playlist to remove it after confirmation.
Removing a track with Remove from playlist changes that playlist only. Deleting a playlist does not delete the audio files.
Play all or Add all
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Play all | Replaces the queue with the available playlist tracks and starts the first track. The previous queue and its playback order/history are replaced. |
| Add all | Appends available files that are not already queued. It leaves current playback running and skips duplicates by file path. |
| Select a playlist track | Starts that track. If it is already queued, Neirose selects the queued entry; otherwise it adds the track to the queue first. |
Unavailable files are skipped when the playlist is loaded for playback. If every file is unavailable, it cannot start. Reconnect the drive or repair the playlist’s file references.
Arrange playlists and tracks
- In the playlist browser, drag a playlist to change the order of your playlists.
- Open a playlist and drag a track to its new position. Release to save the new order.
- Press
Escapeduring a drag to cancel the move.
Reordering a playlist does not rearrange an existing playback queue. Use the Queue when you want to change what plays next.
Import M3U and M3U8 playlists
- Open Library → Playlists, choose New playlist, then choose import your playlist below the name field.
- Select one or more
.m3uor.m3u8files exported by another player. - Review the new playlists in Library → Playlists.
You can also drag .m3u or .m3u8 files from Explorer onto the Neirose window; the drop cue reads Drop to import playlist. Each file becomes its own Neirose playlist with the entries in their original order.
Every playlist track must be a readable local file, so online streams, unsupported formats, and missing files are skipped during import. Your audio files stay where they are.
Bring over playlists from other players
When Neirose finds playlists that foobar2000 (version 2) or your Music\Playlists folder already has on this PC, Library → Playlists offers to bring them over. With no playlists yet, the offer fills the page; later finds appear as a small banner above your playlists.
- Choose Import all to add every playlist found, or Choose… to tick the ones you want and then Import selected.
- Choose Not now to hide the offer. Each playlist is offered only once, so declined playlists do not come back; playlists you make later in the other player are offered when Neirose next starts.
Neirose only reads the other player’s files and never changes them. As with a file import, missing files, online streams, and unsupported formats are skipped, and a playlist with nothing playable is not added.
Add music by dropping it on a playlist
- Open a playlist, or show your playlists in Library → Playlists.
- Drag music files or folders from Explorer over the open playlist, or over a playlist card or row. The target is marked and the cue reads Drop to add to playlist.
- Release to add the tracks to that playlist. Folders add the supported files inside them.
Create a playlist from a folder
- Drag a music folder from Explorer onto the Neirose window, away from any playlist.
- Let Neirose read the supported files and create the playlist.
- Open Library → Playlists to review the result and rename or arrange it as needed.
A consistently tagged album can supply the playlist’s name and artwork. Files remain in their original location. The new playlist opens for review; choose Play all or Add all when you want to use it for playback. Use Library → Folders to manage indexed library roots.
A playlist is a saved set of file references, not a live mirror of its folder. Add newly discovered tracks to the playlist when you want them included.
For Neirose 1.5.0.0. Check your installed version.
