Privacy Policy
Neirose is a local-first music player. It contains no advertising, analytics, or automatic diagnostic uploads. Online lyrics and Discord sharing are optional and off by default.
Who operates Neirose
Neirose is developed and operated by korket. For privacy questions or data requests, contact support@neirose.app.
Your music files and library catalog stay on your device. Online lyrics and Discord are optional. Standalone builds automatically check for updates using the app version and ordinary request metadata, as described below.
Information processed on your device
When you choose music files or folders, Neirose reads file paths, audio metadata, embedded or sidecar lyrics, and album artwork so it can play and organize your library. It stores your queue, playlists, library index, settings, cached artwork and lyrics, window placement, and local diagnostic logs under your Windows Local AppData Neirose folder. Music folders are treated as read-only unless you explicitly request a file operation. To offer bringing over playlists you already made, Neirose also reads the playlist files foobar2000 and other players keep on this PC (for example foobar2000's playlist folder and your Music\Playlists folder). It only reads them, never changes them, and nothing leaves your device.
Optional online lyrics
If you enable Online lyrics, Neirose sends the current track title, artist, album, and duration to LRCLIB over HTTPS when suitable local lyrics are unavailable. The service also receives ordinary connection information such as your IP address. Results may be cached on your device. You can disable Online lyrics at any time in About & Updates; local and previously cached lyrics continue to work.
Optional Discord sharing and artwork
If you enable Share listening activity, Neirose sends the current track title, artist, playback state, playback timing, and audio format details such as codec and sample rate to Discord for Rich Presence. Neirose 1.0.9.0 and earlier may also send the track title, artist, album, your interface language, and your region to YouTube Music to find suitable public artwork; later versions do not contact YouTube Music. From Neirose 1.3.0.0, the Neirose artwork relay (artwork.neirose.app) temporarily relays a resized copy of the current track's album artwork through an encrypted connection so Discord can display it; no titles, artists, or file paths are sent to the relay. To use it, Neirose creates a random key for your installation and sends the relay only its public half, from which the relay derives an anonymous install ID that is not linked to your name, Microsoft account, or license key. The relay uses your IP address and install ID to apply rate limits, and records the install ID only when an installation exceeds its hourly limit. Relay resources are short-lived and removed through expiry and capacity limits. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning Share listening activity off, which clears Neirose's Discord presence.
Microsoft Store services
The Microsoft Store edition of Neirose uses Microsoft Store APIs for application updates, package integrity, add-on ownership, and purchases. Microsoft processes Store account, payment, license, device, and update information under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Neirose does not receive your payment-card details.
Standalone update checks
Standalone installer builds check the release feed on neirose.app over HTTPS after startup and every six hours. The request includes the Neirose version in its User-Agent header. The website and installer download host receive ordinary request information, such as your IP address. The checks do not send track names, music files, library data, file paths, license keys, or an account identifier. Downloading and installing an update start only when you choose them in Neirose. Release verification happens inside the app and does not contact a separate signing service.
Purchases on this website
Add-ons bought on neirose.app/buy are sold through Paddle, the reseller and Merchant of Record, which collects your payment, billing, and tax details under the Paddle Privacy Policy. The developer never receives your card or payment details. To deliver and support your license, this website keeps an order record with your email address, the Paddle transaction and customer IDs, the add-ons bought, the license key and its ID, the purchase date, and whether it was refunded. It is stored with Cloudflare, the website's host, and used only to show and email your license key, resend it when you ask, handle refunds, and deactivate refunded keys. License keys contain no personal information, and activating one in Neirose happens entirely offline.
Information not collected by the developer
Neirose does not operate a user account system and does not automatically upload analytics, crash reports, diagnostic logs, library indexes, playlists, file paths, or listening history to the developer. The developer does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Third parties
Optional features can disclose the information described above to LRCLIB, Discord, the Neirose artwork relay, Microsoft Store, and, in Neirose 1.0.9.0 and earlier, YouTube Music/Google. This website's hosting provider processes ordinary web request information when you visit. Purchases on this website involve Paddle (checkout and payment), Cloudflare (hosting and order storage), and Resend (sending license emails to your address). Third-party handling is governed by their own policies, including the Discord Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy.
Retention, access, and deletion
Local application data remains on your device until Neirose prunes a cache or you delete the data. To erase it, exit Neirose and delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Neirose folder. This folder may remain after uninstalling so an existing library can survive a move between installers. You can inspect it directly with Windows Explorer. Data retained by third-party services is controlled by those services. Website order records are kept while your license may need support and for as long as tax and accounting rules require; ask support@neirose.app to delete yours sooner, and we will delete what the law does not require us to keep. Deleting it means we can no longer resend your key.
Security
Neirose limits local data to the current Windows user profile and uses HTTPS or encrypted WebSocket connections for supported online services. No security measure can eliminate every risk, so keep Windows and Neirose updated.
Children
Neirose is a general-purpose music player and is not directed to children. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes and contact
This policy will be updated when Neirose's data practices materially change. For private privacy questions or requests, email support@neirose.app. Messages and attachments you choose to send are received so the developer can respond; do not include information you do not want to share. General help is available on the Neirose support page.
