Taskbar widget
Add-onEnable compact taskbar playback controls and understand layout compatibility.
On this page
Enable the widget
- Open Settings → Taskbar widget. If the add-on notice is shown, choose Unlock to open the Microsoft Store purchase flow, or Check again if you already own it or redeemed a promo code.
- Enable Show taskbar widget after ownership is available.
- Read the Status shown on the page. The toggle records your preference; the status tells you whether the widget can appear in this session.
For owners, the widget preference starts enabled in Bottom left. If the taskbar settings category is absent, the installed build may not include the feature.
Choose the display and placement
- Expand Widget options.
- Choose the Display containing the taskbar you want to use.
- Choose Placement: Before system tray, After Widgets, Center, or Bottom left.
The widget needs a supported horizontal taskbar, recognized task-list and system-tray regions, and enough free space. A selected placement may be unavailable on a particular Explorer layout.
Show or hide the spectrum
In Widget options, use Spectrum visualizer to show or hide the audio display behind the track information. It is enabled by default.
The visualizer uses only Neirose’s processed playback audio. It does not record a microphone or capture audio from other applications.
If the widget is missing
- Check add-on ownership and Show taskbar widget first.
- Read the displayed status before changing settings. Try another placement or display if the current location has no space.
- Choose Retry now after a layout change or Explorer restart.
When the layout is unsupported, Neirose leaves the taskbar untouched and retains your preference. Repeated retries cannot make an unsupported layout compatible. Local audio can continue even when the widget is unavailable.
If the widget service itself cannot start, the status reports it as unavailable instead of offering a non-functional widget, for example a Recovering status noting the integration could not start. Availability follows both add-on ownership and service health.
Use the mini-player overlay
- Click the widget once to open its mini-player overlay above the taskbar.
- Click the widget again to close the overlay.
- Use the overlay’s transport, seek row, and title to control playback without opening the main window.
- Right-click the widget to toggle the main window; the overlay stays open while the window changes.
By default the overlay shows synchronized lyrics for the current track. Use the lyrics mode toggle in the bottom-left corner of the lyrics card to switch between line and word display, and use the volume button to open a slider flyout. Untimed lyrics have no current line to follow, so the whole text scrolls inside the card.
Choose the queue toggle below the open-window button at the top right to swap the lyrics for the queue, and choose it again to return. Select a queued track to play it, or drag rows to reorder them with the same drag animation as the main queue.
The overlay slides in and out and stays open while the pointer hovers over it. After it loses the pointer or focus, it dismisses after about one second. The window button at its edge shows or hides the main window depending on its current state.
For Neirose 1.5.0.0. Check your installed version.
