Playback overlays

Place the media flyout and choose when the Up Next preview appears.

On this page

Choose which overlays appear

  1. Open Settings → Playback overlays.
  2. Use Show media flyout to show Neirose’s track and playback controls when using media keys.
  3. Use Show Up Next preview to show the next track shortly before the current one finishes.

Both preferences are enabled by default. Up Next depends on there being a next track in the current queue and playback order. These overlays are separate from the taskbar widget and Windows’ own media controls.

Settings → Playback overlays, with both overlays on and the default Bottom right position.

Set the display and position

  1. Expand Placement and timing.
  2. Choose the desired Display.
  3. Choose Position: a top or bottom corner, or a centered position along the top or bottom.

The default position is Bottom right. Choose a position that keeps the overlay clear of controls you use in other applications.

Adjust how long previews appear

Change Hide flyout after to set the flyout’s duration. The default is three seconds. Change Show Up Next before to set how far ahead of the track ending the preview appears; the default is eight seconds.

If no preview appears, verify the toggle, the chosen display, and that another track is queued. Use Troubleshooting for further checks.
