Privacy and local data

Find Neirose’s local data and understand the services used by optional features.

On this page

Your music stays in place

Neirose reads files from locations you choose. Indexing a library, creating a playlist, and changing the queue do not move the underlying audio files. Removing a library root or playlist does not delete your music.

This page explains practical controls and storage. The Neirose Privacy Policy is the authoritative description of data practices.

Find the local data folder

  1. Open Windows File Explorer.
  2. Enter %LOCALAPPDATA%\Neirose in the address bar and press Enter.

This folder contains application settings, library indexes, playlists, saved playback state, cached artwork and lyrics, window placement, and diagnostic logs. It is separate from the folders containing your music.

Control online features

FeatureControl or purposeInformation involved
Online lyricsSettings → About & Updates → Online lyrics; off by default.Track title, artist, album, and duration for LRCLIB lookup when local lyrics are unavailable. Previously cached lyrics can still display with the toggle off.
Discord activity and artworkSettings → Discord → Share listening activity; off by default.Listening details for Discord; a resized cover of the current track through the Neirose artwork relay, with an anonymous install ID.
Microsoft StoreApplication updates and optional add-on ownership/purchases in the Store edition.Store account, licensing, payment, device, and update information handled by Microsoft. This is separate from the optional lyrics and Discord switches.
Standalone updatesRelease checks after startup and every six hours in standalone installer builds; download and install on request. The app version in the request header, plus ordinary web request information such as your IP address. No track names, music files, library, file paths, or license keys.

Turning off the corresponding lyrics or Discord control stops that optional integration. See the Privacy Policy for connection information, providers, retention, and the website’s hosting.

Review diagnostic logs

Local diagnostic logs are stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Neirose\logs. Neirose keeps a bounded set of rolling logs and does not upload them automatically.

If Support asks for logs, review them first and remove file paths or other details you do not want to disclose. Share only information relevant to the problem. Do not send music files or account/payment credentials.

For Neirose 1.5.0.0. Check your installed version.
